Comment: This class is a fully ASYNCHRONOUS ONLINE course. As such, students are NOT required to meet with each other or the instructor at a specific time. All course related business will be conducted online through Lamakū and official @hawaii.edu e-mail. Students must have regular use of a stable computer with access to the Internet in order to participate in this class. Email the instructor (ctennber@hawaii.edu) for additional information. This course is a lot of fun! This course is designed to be an introduction to the world’s major religions. As such, students will be introduced to the history, literature, beliefs and practices of the world’s major religious traditions in an effort to understand how they shed light on the fabric of reality as well as the nature, meaning and struggles of human existence. Some of the traditions that may be considered include Hinduism, Buddhism, Confucianism, Daoism, Judaism, Christianity and Islam. The material covered in the course will include a variety of selections from both current and historically important thinkers.
